Eva Mancera, CEO of i-DE (Iberdrola España’s distribution company), met in Morella with employees following the acquisition of Electra del Maestrazgo’s electricity business and visited the facilities of the family-owned company recently acquired by Iberdrola España, which operates in parts of Castellón and Teruel.

She was accompanied by Guillermo Raga, Iberdrola’s Regional Director for Eastern Spain, and by José Miguel Martínez, i-DE’s Area Manager in Castellón province. During the visit, she spoke with the company’s employees, who presented the specific features of the distribution network as well as its operations and control centre.

Mancera highlighted to the employees that the acquisition forms part of Iberdrola’s strategy to invest in electricity networks, underlining that they are now joining the company’s efforts to drive the transition towards a decarbonised economy through electrification.

After visiting the facilities, Mancera met at Morella Town Hall with municipal representatives, as well as provincial deputies from Castellón, the Els Ports Community of Municipalities and the province of Teruel. She outlined the acquisition carried out by Iberdrola España and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continuing to provide quality service to citizens while addressing current and future needs in the area.

The acquired electricity business of Electra del Maestrazgo includes 1,350 km of medium and low voltage lines, 21,000 supply points, 19,000 retail customers and 6.8 megawatts of installed capacity from photovoltaic plants and hydroelectric generation. These assets will be integrated into Iberdrola España’s operations, strengthening the company’s activity and presence in the region.

The transaction is aligned with Iberdrola España’s strategic plan, which focuses on the sale of non-strategic assets and reinvestment in assets that are relevant to the company’s business and current objectives.
